Feast of San Marco, Patron Saint of Atina

Saint Mark, in addition to being the patron saint of Atina, is the oldest figure of Christianity in the Val di Comino, as he was a contemporary of Jesus and originally from Galilee.
The celebrations are solemn and full of charm. They begin in the morning with the dressing of the Saint in episcopal ornaments: the cope, the miter, the ring, and the pectoral cross. In the past, there was also a traditional fair dedicated to the sale of livestock.
At 7 p.m., after the Solemn Mass, a torchlight procession takes place through the old town, accompanied by the banners of neighboring municipalities. Upon returning, there is the kissing of the relic, kept inside an exquisite 18th-century “reliquary arm”.
