Marc'Antonio Palombo, describing events related to Bishop Boniface, provides sufficient evidence to affirm the existence of another church dedicated to the Virgin, located just above the place now called “Veduta”. He identifies its presence through the discovery of fragments of masonry with pictorial decorations, as well as a sepulchre and two bells, found in his time.
His words are as follows:
“It is believed that this temple stood just above the place that the inhabitants now call ‘Veduta’, as fragments of walls with various pictorial decorations were found there. Furthermore, in our days, two small bells and a sepulchre containing human bones were found.”
Marc'Antonio Palombo describing the events of the Bishop Boniface from sufficient light, to assert another Church dedicated to the Virgin, just above the place, which is called, Veduta, contrasting this one with the encrustation of the walls, variously painted, and the Sepulchre, and Bells, in the time of this our Citizen, found. His words are these.
Hoc Templum versus, parum supra eum locum, quem nunc Incolae, Vedutam, appellant, fuisse creditur, quia incrustationis parietis fragmenta, variè picta, ibi reperiuntur, nostrisq; diebus Campanule due, et Sepulcrum, humana ossa continens, inventa sunt.
