“DOP & Friends” in Atina: the Festival of PDO and PGI products in the Comino Valley on 9 and 10 May 2025
Two days of food tastings, agricultural culture, music and traditions in the heart of Lazio
The 9 and 10 May 2025, the charming old town of Atina (FR), in the heart of Comino Valley, will host “DOP & Friends”, the major event dedicated to Italian food and drink specialities with the name PDO and PGI. A festival celebrating authentic flavours, rural culture and the food and wine heritage of Lazio and the whole of Italy.
Flavour, local character, tradition: the heart of rural Italy on display
Over the weekend, the squares and streets of Atina will be transformed into a veritable showcase of flavours, where you can sample and buy local produce from short supply chains, take part in guided tours, attend live cooking demonstration, events and concerts.
Among the festival’s highlights will be some of the most popular certified products of excellence:
- Atina Cannellino Bean (PDO)
- Atina PDO wines e Cesanese del Piglio PDO
- Pecorino di Picinisco PDO
- Pontecorvo Pepper (PDO)
- Gaeta PDO Olive
- Pontine Hills PDO Olive Oil
- Lamon Bean (PGI), Sarconi Bean (PGI), Sorana Beans (PGI), and many others.
A true celebration of Made in Italy: agricultural, organised with the support of the Frosinone-Latina Chamber of Commerce, Lazio Region, ARSIAL, Inform, ITS Tourism Academy, and the Municipality of Atina.
The programme: a journey through education, flavours and music
📍 Friday 9 May – educational day and tastings
The first day is mainly dedicated to the world of education, for to introduce students to the culture of certified quality.
- 8.30 am – Opening of the agricultural machinery exhibition
- 9.00 am – DOP Tour: guided tours of farms in the Comino Valley
- 11.30 am – Seminar: “Students Discovering Local PDO Products”, with experts and teachers
- 1.00 pm – Guided tasting of local PDO and PGI products
📍 Saturday 10 May – open to the public
The village comes alive with farmers’ markets, food stalls, cooking demonstrations, cultural events and music.
- 8.30 am – Registration DOP Tour – Opening of the exhibition and market
- 9.00 am – Guided tours open to the public at PDO-certified farms
- 11.30 am – Round-table discussion: “The PDO supply chain: producers, institutions and consumers”
- 12.30 pm – A formal lunch featuring produce from Southern Lazio, organised by the hospitality colleges
- 3.30 pm – Exhibition and competition of traditional carriages in Atina
- 5.30 pm – Public tasting of local specialities
- 6.00 pm – Jazz concert with Atina Jazz
- 10.00 pm – DJ set in the historic centre
An event for all the senses, in the village that embodies the spirit of the Comino Valley
