Following the disastrous earthquake of 1349, the town of Atina, which at the time stood on the high ground of Santo Stefano, was almost completely destroyed. The violent seismic tremors razed much of the town to the ground, leaving the population stunned and without shelter. As if that were not enough, the following year, the few survivors, already tried by the catastrophe, were hit [...].
Of the grandiose Roman Atina, only a few visible finds remain today, while most still lie buried or scarred by time and neglect. In order to reconstruct the city's history, in addition to literary sources, archaeology is fundamental, providing material evidence and concrete data, such as the are on display here.
